Remember all these goodies?
Most of them were door prizes for the Wicked as They Come book launch party last Friday. But I kept some packets back JUST FOR Y'ALL. Because you're always so sweet and supportive and it's not your fault you don't live just down the street from me and invite me over for margaritas all the time.
So here's your chance to win!
There are several prizes up for grabs, and I'm happy to send a signed and personalized bookplate with each of them-- as soon as the bookplates show up. The grand prize, if you care to call it that, is a copy of Wicked as They Come in which I will take my pen and write secrets. About the inspirations, things that happened while I was writing it, that sort of thing. SECRETS, PEOPLE. So enter that Rafflecopter and win, baby!

Good luck, and may the bluds be ever in your favor!

I'd love to see more Casper in the next book!
"Jonathan Rhys Meyers in Gormenghast"
That's funny that I asked this question before you posted the blog :)
Ah never have I regretted my inability to travel to the South and survive the experience more. :sigh: Here's to hoping you do a Northeast visit! :D
(and the blud will always be in my favor...assuming its not bludbunnies.)
Well I know that the thing was initially inspired by a funky dream involving a super-naughty Mr. Darcy (this cracked me up when I read it, btw). Also? Watching Buffy before bed lol
Also also? I loved this book and have told everyone I know to read it.
Hmm... additional comment of what I'd like to see in future books:
I love the small clockwork guards. I actually really like the plan of showcasing different members of the caravan in each book. As long as you show us occasional glimpses of Criminy and Tish :-D
As for my own super special task, I've already pushed my copy of the book on a friend and am telling everyone about it! Does that count? :-)
Kayla, I have Caspery good news for you regarding book 2. LOTS of it. =)
Etty, I have clockwork guard good news for you in the e-novella out this October. There could be a unicorn involved. And flamingos.
Maaaaaybe.
Am I lame for entering when I live so close? Sadly I am kept hostage by tiny people who will not let me go to book launch parties. Your writing is delightful and I can't wait for the next,
How about taking a copy of "Wicked as they Come" and in costume walking around town (perhaps even shadowing a street preacher). Holding it aloft, waving it to add emphasis, and saying loudly, "The answers are all here, the answers have been foretold thru this divine work!"
I want to see some clockwork peacocks and a really cool chick who makes her own corsets...
Inspired by lots of Firefly and Buffy episodes, music playlists, and dreams of Mr. Darcy.
I just bought two copies of WICKED AS THEY COME to put in my mom and sister-in-law's Easter baskets. Cause you know the Easter bunny is really just a bludbunny in disguise.
I believe you told me you were watching a lot of Buffy while writing. :) The discussion began in relation to Spike.
What I would like to see more of is your beautiful way with words.
Hopefully will I be convincing lots of people to read through my review. :)
What fun. But you know, virtual red velvet cake just isn't the same. And though I am lighting matches and pretending to twirl them, it doesn't match firedancers..
Read some of these comments and...wait, the EB is a BLUDBUNNY??? nooooo..... I will never look at chocolate eggs in quite the same way.
Glad about more Casper, I also want more.
Additional comment about desires for future books: I want a character, a woman who really knows what she wants and does not wait for a dude to show her the way. Who indeed shows him a whole lot. Okay?
If I remember correctly it was inspired by a crazy dream and I would LOVE to see some more Casper. He's becoming a favorite so far :)
More Steampunk clothing, pretty please!
I know Buffy inspired you, and now all I can think of is the episode where the demons used kitties as poker chips.
Also in the next book bludkitties? That would be funny and so cute :P
The only thing missing in Wicked As They Come is a hot air balloon ride. Next blub needs a hot Casper date with a hot air balloon just think you can see the entire city from it.
A naked dream was one inspiration, which I think is a great answer. I've always heard that naked dreams inspire large amounts of creativity.
Thanks for the giveaway! ;)
Blub inspiration...The Hush Sound.
More Casper please. And I LMAO about the Mr.Darcy comments...*sigh* Who doesn't dream of their own Mr. Darcy? I do!!!
Eep! I just read that one of the inspirations for Criminy was an extra-naughty version of Mr. Darcy... I should probably stop here before I lose all my dignity. (Mr. Darrrcyyyyy... mmmm.)
Now I really want to read your book, Delilah! Unfortunately I have to wait until I get back from my student exchange in Hong Kong, and then I'll have to order from Italy... *sigh* it's going to be a bit of a wait. :(
I'm loving these comments about what you want in future books. Are any of you, by chance, glancers? ;)
I would like to see more on the history of how the pinkys came into power.
Hmmm....inspired by a dream with a naughty Mr. Darcy and music from The Hush Sound. :)
What I'd like to see more of in future books - more Criminy and Tish, at least some cameos, and more on the history of Sang and what happened between Bludmen and pinkies!
Like Vines by Hush Sound and Criminy is inspired by Spike on Buffy!!! I haven't read this yet, but I would really love to!!! Thanks for the great giveaway!!!!
I Can't wait for this book!!
Spike from Buffy is pretty drool worthy, and you know what? So is Criminy!!
And I loved your blog post about writing sex scenes, hilarious! So glad I don't have to try figure out how to get two characters in the mood and actually going at it! =)
For the next books I want to see more Criminy! Yeah I know the focus will be on other characters but I never want him to go away.
And I am telling everyone to go buy this book! I want all my friends to be in agony with me as I wait for book number two. * evil laugh *
I'm only halfway done with your wonderful book (as I've said in the past, I read so slowly!), so I'm not going to read the other comments, lest they give something away. I would love to see even more about the fashion of this world - I love the descriptions you give!
Also, answering your question of what inspired you - well... I know that Valerie Taylor inspired you on page 102! Seriously though, I see bits of you, your husband, and little references to things we've talked about through the years all over this book!
I'd love to see more Casper and more of Tish and Criminy :)
MOAR CASPER.
You were inspired by the album Like Vines by The Hush Sound.
I'd like to see an incorporation of your soaps into the book.
Naughty Dreams were inspiring. What I would love to see is some more rabid bunny kicking action ins the sequel and more sexy times.
Well, I know BPAL inspired some of the things in WATC. Specifically, Beth, queen of the lab, who are prolly a bit of the inspiration for Lady Letitia Fortune Teller. :D
Oh me! Am I too late?
Oh me! Am I too late?
Is it wrong I want to see a bluddeer rendition of Bambi in the next book? :D
Inspired by Buffy episodes, a dream about Mr. Darcy, and BPAL.
I just finished the other day, and even though I don't care about clothes, I loved the way you described all the steampunky fashions in Sang. Made fashion sounds fun!
Next book I'm hoping for more clockwork critters! :)
Inspired by BtVS! A girl after my own heart.
For an extra entry, I'd love to see something inspired by Tim Burton in the next book.
I believe it was a naked dream and Buffy as the inspirations. Cant wait to read this book since I've heard nothing but good things!
watching all kinds of joss whedon shows and something about watching buffy and dreaming a hot vampire who sounded like spike was watching you : )
